St Ives Star Awards 2026: nominate the town’s unsung heroes
Everyone knows someone who keeps their corner of St Ives ticking over without ever asking for thanks. The volunteer who is always first to help, the neighbour who checks in, the person who quietly makes things better. For the second time, the town has a way to say so out loud.

Nominations are open
The St Ives Star Awards 2026 are back, and St Ives Town Council is asking residents to put forward the people who deserve a moment in the spotlight. The awards exist to recognise the stars of the town, the unsung heroes who quietly do amazing things without expecting anything in return.
If you know a local community star and would like to see them recognised and celebrated, you can nominate them now. Nominations close at midnight on Sunday 9 August 2026.
Anyone nominated must either live in the parish or contribute to the community of St Ives. There are a few rules on eligibility too. No councillor, council employee or their direct relatives can be nominated or put a nomination forward, and previous winners will not be considered again.
How to nominate
There are three ways to get a name in. You can call in at the Town Council reception at The Guildhall, St Ives, TR26 2DS and pick up a nomination card. You can fill in the online nomination form. Or you can email [email protected].
Every nomination needs a name, a few contact details and, most importantly, the reason you think the person deserves recognition. That reason is the heart of it, so it is worth taking a moment over.
Nominations will be considered by a panel made up of the Committee Chair and Town Mayor, with support from the Town Clerk. The panel’s decisions are final.
A night at the Harbour Hotel
Nominees will be invited to a special evening, the Mayor’s Dinner and Star Awards Ceremony, on Friday 4 September at the Harbour Hotel. The winners will be announced that evening and each will receive a gift.
Those gifts have been donated by a line-up of local sponsors: Harbour Hotel, Aspects Holidays, Porthminster Café and Kirsty Bridgewater.
So if a face has already come to mind, that is usually a sign. The town has until midnight on Sunday 9 August to make sure they know.
