Redruth’s Starlight Logistics hands over £700 of Christmas help

Boxes of food, toys and trays of toiletries, passed from hand to hand down a line of helpers. That’s what Christmas looked like at one Cornish firm this week.

Redruth based Starlight Logistics has donated more than £700 worth of food, toys and essential toiletries to Cornwall’s Rewind Radio’s ‘Fill the Foodbanks’ Christmas appeal.

The donation was delivered to the station’s studios this week and will go towards supporting families across Cornwall who may be facing a tough time this Christmas.

Why the team got involved

Robert South, owner of Starlight Logistics, said: “At Starlight Logistics, we’re proud to support our local communities and wanted to play our part in helping families who may be struggling this Christmas. We’re delighted to be able to donate food, toys and toiletries to such a worthwhile appeal and would encourage other businesses and individuals to get involved if they can.”

50 donation stations across Cornwall

The appeal, supported by Cornish Metals, launched in mid-October. Communities, businesses and organisations across Cornwall have already rallied behind it.

There are 50 donation stations at local businesses throughout the Duchy, where people can drop off non-perishable food, toiletries and festive treats for local families in need.

Everything collected will be shared out through Trussell Trust and independent foodbanks across Cornwall in the run-up to Christmas.

What happens next

Cornwall’s Rewind Radio is asking people to keep the donations coming, with non-perishable food, toiletries and gifts all welcome. You can find your nearest donation station and more about the appeal on the Rewind Radio website.

Richard Woods, Managing Director of Cornwall’s Rewind Radio, said: “The generosity shown by Starlight Logistics is absolutely fantastic. Donations like this make a real difference and help ensure that local families receive support during what can be a difficult time of year. We’d like to thank Rob and the team for their incredible contribution and for helping us spread a little Christmas cheer across Cornwall.”
