Martin Clunes Unveils West Cornwall Hospital’s Brand New Outpatients Department

A New Chapter for Healthcare in Penzance

Actor Martin Clunes OBE DL officially opened the new outpatients department at West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance on Tuesday 9th September 2025.

Martin, who joined clinical staff and patients for the occasion, said he was delighted to be invited to unveil the plaque and see the new facility first-hand.

“When all you hear is gloom and doom about the NHS and the people who work in it being undervalued, this looks like everyone’s being valued,” said Martin.

“A Declaration of Faith” in the Hospital’s Future

David Allen OBE, Chair of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, described the opening as an important moment for the hospital.

He said the new outpatient department was a “real declaration of faith in the future of West Cornwall Hospital”.

The unveiling brought together staff and patients to mark the latest development at the Penzance hospital, which continues to serve communities across West Cornwall.
