Crantock Bale Push Raises £18,500 for Cornish Charities
A Successful Year for Crantock Village Fundraiser
The 25th Crantock Bale Push has raised £18,500 for Cornish organisations and charities following its 2025 event. The total was revealed during the Annual Presentation Evening held at the Old Albion Inn on Monday 27th October, where guests gathered to celebrate another successful year.
Before the presentations began, a photo call took place outside the Lychgate at St Carantoc Church. The evening then continued with cheque presentations, food and celebrations recognising the ongoing success of this long-running event.
106 Teams and Thousands Raised
Committee Chairman Nigel shared that “The event saw 106 teams taking part and scores of spectators enjoying the late summer’s evening bale rolling spectacular and the entertainment from local 1940’s Crooner Andy Marshall. We are delighted that due to the continued support from the Bale Push Magazine advertisers and our event sponsors Sharps Brewery, The Bowgie, The Garage Company Ltd, Start and Co, David Ball Agencies and Legacy Properties, The Garage Co Ltd, St Agnes Bakery and Pilgrims UK and with matched funding from Visa we are able to donate £18,500 to this year’s chosen organisations and charities. Since the Bale Push started in 2000 we have now raised over £189,900 which has been donated to local charities and organisations.”

Nigel and the committee also extended special thanks to John Trainer for his continued support, and to Evelyn, Harry and the staff at the Old Albion for hosting the event and providing a buffet.
From Pub Chat to Annual Tradition
The Crantock Bale Push began in 2000 after farmer Chris Eustice came up with the idea during conversations at local pubs including The Treguth and The Old Albion. After a small test run, the first official event was held just three weeks later, raising over £800 for Halwyn Parc.
Since then, the event has gone from strength to strength, now involving more than 130 sponsors and advertisers who contribute through the Bale Push Magazine. Over the years, the event has supported more than 60 organisations with donations ranging from £100 to over £3,000.
Looking Ahead
The Bale Push Committee thanked the sponsors, advertisers, helpers and residents of Crantock for their ongoing support and patience during the annual event. The next Crantock Bale Push is scheduled for Friday 11th September 2026.
