Luxmuralis Time Light and Sound Show Returns to Truro Cathedral in January
Excitement is building as Truro Cathedral prepares to host its second Luxmuralis light and sound show in as many years, with Time set to take over the cathedral in January 2026.
The immersive experience will run from Monday 12th to Saturday 17th January 2026, transforming one of Cornwall’s most recognisable buildings with large scale projected artworks, sound and narrative.
What visitors can expect from Time
Time by Luxmuralis invites visitors on a journey through different eras of human history, exploring humanity’s relationship with time, theories of relativity and the text of The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.
The projected artworks are designed to completely engulf the cathedral. Visitors will move through wormholes, explore the inner workings of clocks and follow a dramatic story that travels from the present day back to the very beginning of everything. The experience culminates with the formation of our planet, offering what organisers describe as a powerful and awe inspiring conclusion.
Luxmuralis’ work has previously been described as the “stained glass windows of our time” and “art on an epic scale”, bringing light and sound into historic spaces across the UK and abroad.
The artists behind the show
Luxmuralis is the artistic collaboration between Peter Walker, a sculptor, and David Harper, a composer. Together, they specialise in immersive fine art, light and sound installations, creating works across multiple media and presentation formats. Their approach places contemporary fine art within an art historical context while taking artwork into public and unexpected spaces.
Reaction after last year’s success
Following the success of the previous Luxmuralis show at the cathedral, Sean O’Neill, Chief Operating Officer, said:
“After the success of Luxmuralis last year, I’m excited to see this next show bring the cathedral to life in January. Transforming this amazing space with light and sound for all to see, feel and immerse themselves in.”
