Thundery Showers to Hit Cornwall Before Weekend Heat Arrives
Cornwall is in for a week of two halves, with blustery showers and possible thunder giving way to very warm weather by the weekend.
The Met Office forecast for South West England covering Tuesday 19th May to Saturday 23rd May points to a mixed picture, with the back end of the week looking considerably more settled than the start.
Tuesday’s washout eases by evening
Any lingering rain in the east will clear quickly today, leaving a blustery day with a mix of sunshine and showers. Those showers are expected to be heavy and possibly thundery before easing later in the day. It will feel warm in the sunny spells but breezy throughout, with a maximum temperature of 18°C.
Tonight, showers will continue through the evening before becoming lighter and gradually easing overnight. It will stay breezy, rather cloudy and mild across the region, with temperatures not dropping below 10°C.
A cloudier Wednesday
Wednesday looks largely cloudy at first, though some brighter spells should develop at times. A few spots of rain are possible where the cloud thickens. The mercury could reach 19°C.

Warmer weekend on the way
From Thursday onwards the picture improves. The forecast says it will turn drier, brighter and warmer through Thursday, with Friday and Saturday becoming very warm. Some thundery showers are possible at times over the weekend, so it may not be entirely plain sailing for anyone planning outdoor events.
