Coastguard called to a boat in Penzance harbour after medical alert
A quiet late morning on the water turned into a call-out when someone aboard a boat in Penzance harbour was suddenly taken ill.

A call at 11.24am
The Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked at 11.24am after reports came in of a person suffering a medical incident on a boat in Penzance harbour. It was the team’s 47th shout of 2026.
They were on scene quickly and set about providing casualty care while the ambulance was still on its way.
Handed over to the ambulance crew
When paramedics from the South Western Ambulance Service arrived, the coastguard team handed the casualty over and stayed put to help with the extraction, getting the patient safely off the boat and up to the waiting ambulance.
Once the casualty was safely inside the ambulance, the team was stood down with thanks. “We wish the casualty a speedy recovery,” they said.
