Man airlifted after e-scooter crash on Penmere Hill
A stretch of road above Falmouth was closed for almost seven hours overnight after a man was seriously hurt riding an e-scooter, and police now want to hear from anyone who saw what happened.
Officers were called to Penmere Hill in Falmouth at around 11.15pm on Monday 24 August following a collision involving a ‘Beryl’ electric scooter. The rider, a local man in his 40s, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital for treatment.

Road closed overnight for investigation
Penmere Hill stayed shut through the night while officers dealt with the scene, reopening just before 6am on Tuesday 25 August. Devon and Cornwall Police‘s Roads Policing Team thanked the public for their patience while the road was closed.
What police want to know
Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage that could help the investigation is asked to get in touch via the Devon and Cornwall Police website or by calling 101, quoting log number 975 of 24 August 2026.
