Cornwall’s Baby Show heads back to Penzance for fifth year

A nursery’s worth of questions, and a room full of people who might actually have the answers. That is the pitch behind Cornwall’s Baby Show, which returns to Penzance next month for its fifth outing.

A morning of stalls and health checks at Penwith College

Cornwall’s Rewind Radio has confirmed it will once again support Cornwall’s Baby Show, delivered in partnership with NHS Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The event runs at Penwith College in Penzance on Thursday 19 September, from 10am to 2pm.

The annual event brings together a wide range of baby-focused stalls, services and information, from clothing and essential gear to expert guidance for new and expecting parents. It also gives families the chance to meet others and explore everything they need for a growing household.

NHS checks on offer throughout the day

Throughout the day, NHS teams will provide general pregnancy health advice alongside a variety of wellbeing checks, including blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol testing, weight and BMI assessments, smoking cessation support and vaccination guidance.

Visitors will also be able to access Q risk scores, an assessment of the likelihood of developing cardiovascular conditions over the next ten years.

Midwifery advice and the vaccination window

The NHS midwifery team will be on hand to discuss pregnancy health, childhood immunisations and whooping cough vaccinations for pregnant women and people. Those wishing to receive the vaccination at the show must be between 16 and 32 weeks pregnant.

Organisers have stressed that while NHS teams can support general pregnancy enquiries on the day, anyone with concerns about their pregnancy or health should contact their GP.

‘A much-loved fixture for families across Cornwall’

Nicola Langridge, Brand and Content Director at Cornwall’s Rewind Radio, said the station was proud to be involved again. “We’re very proud to be hosting the fifth Baby Show with the NHS,” Nicola said.

“This event has become a much-loved fixture for families across Cornwall, bringing parents, healthcare professionals and local businesses together in a welcoming and informative environment. We are delighted to continue supporting the NHS while celebrating local families.”

Cornwall’s Rewind Radio is the Duchy’s only independent local radio station, broadcasting across Cornwall and West Devon. Alongside its coverage of the Baby Show, the station runs a mix of classic hits, local news, community stories and presenter-led programming, available on digital radio, smart speakers, online and via the Rewind Radio app.
