Truro’s tenth City Clean Up wants an hour of your time

A cable tie left on a lamp post after an event. A sticker slapped on a sign and never peeled off. On their own they barely register. Add them up across a city centre and they start to show, and this week a team of volunteers is setting out to clear the lot.

The tenth City Clean Up

Truro BID, working with Newham BID, is hosting the tenth City Clean Up this Friday (16 October) and Saturday (17 October).

The idea is to get as many businesses and organisations as possible to give up an hour, or whatever time they can spare, to help clean and tidy Truro.

Where the volunteers will be on Friday

Litter picks are planned at Infirmary Hill and Falmouth Road, and around the River Street and Kenwyn Street area. In the city centre, the jobs are cable tie cutting, sign washing and sticker removal.

Local community volunteers and Truro community groups will also be out with litter picks in the areas surrounding the city. They have been invited to take part by Damien Richards, Community Development Officer at Truro City Council.

Kit provided

Nobody needs to bring their own equipment. High vis vests, gloves, bags and litter sticks will all be provided, thanks to Clean Cornwall.

Businesses can still sign up

There is still time for Truro businesses to volunteer an hour on Friday. Anyone who wants to help is asked to email [email protected] as soon as possible.
