Cornwall weather: Monday 26 October, gales before it settles
If you are heading out first thing on Monday, expect to get wet before the skies brighten. Cornwall starts the week on the damp and windy side, with rain clearing to brighter spells but the wind picking up behind it, strong enough to bring gales to the coast and the high ground later on. The good news is that this is about as rough as the week gets, because from Tuesday things steadily settle down. Here is how the weather across Cornwall looks, day by day. The Met Office issues this as a South West England forecast, so the figures cover the wider region rather than Cornwall on its own.

Today (Monday 26 October)
A wet start for most, but the rain pushes away to the northeast through the morning, letting drier and somewhat brighter spells develop. As the rain clears the wind strengthens, and gales are likely later near the coast and over the hills. Maximum temperature around 17°C.
Tonight
A dry but cloudy evening for many, before a band of heavy rain pushes in from the west overnight. It should clear most of the region by dawn. Gale force winds are likely again through the night. Minimum temperature around 9°C.
Tuesday
Bright and breezy, with isolated showers mixed into plenty of sunny spells. It will feel fresh in the strong breeze, though that eases through the afternoon. Maximum temperature around 14°C.

Wednesday to Friday
A showery start to Wednesday before it turns drier and brighter by the afternoon. Thursday looks the pick of the days, with sunny spells and light winds. Then the cloud starts to build again on Friday.
After a blustery, wet opening, the middle of the week offers the calm. That cloud building back in on Friday is the hint that a settled spell in Cornwall rarely sits still for long.
