Lifeboats launched just before midnight
Fowey RNLI received a tasking request from Falmouth Coastguard on Friday 23 October, following reports of the missing man.
The station’s volunteer lifeboat crew launched their D class lifeboat at 11:24pm and set off to help the coastguard team, police and the police helicopter already involved in the search.
It was then decided that Fowey’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat should join in too. It launched at 11:56pm.
From Polruan Quay to the harbour entrance
The two lifeboats carried out a shoreline search from Polruan Quay out to the harbour entrance. That took in Readymoney and Albert Quay, and the crews also worked around Pont Creek, Pont Pill and Brazen Island.
Boats in the harbour were checked as part of the search. On land, teams searched the area, including buildings.
Stood down at 1:15am
The lifeboats were stood down at 1:15am, after the missing man was found by the coastguard and police.
