Truro’s trophy cabinet fills up again at South West in Bloom

A week ago it was the national stage. Then the regional judges had their say, and Truro came home with even more silverware.

Truro City Council has announced further success at the South West in Bloom Awards, held in Newquay last Friday (23 October).

It follows the city’s Gold award and Large Town category win at the national Britain in Bloom Awards the week before.

Two Golds and two trophies

At the South West ceremony, Truro received:

• Gold and the Sargent Trophy for Best Large Town
• Gold and the Coastal and Estuary Trophy

There was also a Gold for Tregolls Manor, which was recognised in the business category.

The work behind the flowers

The council says the awards recognise the year-round work that goes into maintaining and enhancing Truro’s parks, gardens, floral displays and green spaces.

It has thanked the Council’s Parks and Gardens Department, the Truro in Bloom Committee, Truro BID, Biffa, volunteers, community groups and local businesses for helping make Truro a welcoming city for residents and visitors.

The council links the achievement to Objective 2, ‘Our Environment’, of its 2026 to 2030 Strategy, which sets out its commitment to maintaining and enhancing the city’s green spaces.

One more result to come

The South West in Bloom ‘In Your Neighbourhood’ results are due to be announced on Tuesday 3 November.
