Birdwatchers Brave the Rain for Mevagissey Harbour Sightings
A group of determined nature lovers refused to let the rain dampen their spirits during the latest Connect with Nature birdwatching event at Mevagissey Harbour.
Fifteen Species Spotted
The monthly outing was organised by Rowena Castillo-Nicholls, RSPB Kernow Local Group Leader and Publicity Officer for the Cornwall Bird Watching and Preservation Society. Rob Nicholls led the fieldtrip, joined by eight enthusiastic wildlife watchers.
Despite the wet weather, the group recorded 15 species of birds, including 22 Great Black-backed Gulls, more than 1,000 Herring Gulls, one Black-headed Gull, six Gannets, 11 Cormorants, four Shags, 12 Turnstones, seven Rock Pipits, four Pied Wagtails, eight Feral Pigeons, one Mallard, two Carrion Crows, two Long-tailed Tits, one Robin and one Wren.
Moment of Remembrance
At 11am, the group paused for a moment of silence in remembrance of those who served to defend freedom and way of life.
Lest we forget… Gone but not forgotten.
