A38 Lane Closures Planned Between Tamar Bridge and Forder Valley on 25th January
Drivers using the A38 in Cornwall and west Devon are being warned to expect significant delays this weekend due to planned lane closures.
National Highways has confirmed it is carrying out essential surveys on the A38 between Tamar Bridge and Forder Valley to help keep the road fit for now and the future and reduce the risk of unplanned closures later on.
When and where the closures will happen
One lane will be closed in each direction on the A38 on Sunday 25th January, from 7.30am until 6pm, between Tamar Bridge and Forder Valley.
For a short period in the morning, the westbound lane closure will also extend as far as the Marsh Mills junction.
Expect delays and plan ahead
National Highways has said that significant delays are expected throughout the day. Drivers are being advised to consider alternative routes where possible. Anyone who does need to travel should plan ahead and allow plenty of extra time for their journey.
Why the work is taking place at the weekend
The surveys need to be carried out during daylight hours. National Highways says weekend working has been chosen as traffic levels are usually lower, allowing the work to be completed as safely and efficiently as possible with less overall disruption.
Weather dependent work
The work is subject to favourable weather conditions. If the surveys cannot be completed as planned, the team may need to return at a later date to finish the work.
