Falmouth Week 2026: ten days of music, sailing and a 95% eclipse

Ten days, one town, and the moon taking a bite out of the sun somewhere in the middle of it. Falmouth Week returns from Friday 7 to Sunday 16 August 2026, and it remains one of Cornwall’s biggest summer celebrations, ten days of live music, family days out and world-class sailing built on one of the oldest maritime traditions in the South West. There is chart pop and there are tribute acts, there is a fleet of stunt planes over the bay, and there is a rare partial eclipse that Cornwall has not seen the like of since 1999. Here is how the ten days shape up.

The music in the marquee

The evening entertainment lives in the Waterfront Marquee at Church Street car park, presented by Southwest Bars and Events, and the bill runs every night of the week.

Peter Andre tops it on Friday 14 August, taking the stage through decades of hits on the biggest party night of the run. He is followed that evening by Queen tribute act The Bohemians, a Falmouth Week favourite personally endorsed by Brian May. Scouting For Girls return the night before, on Thursday 13 August, back by popular demand after a hit set last year, promising a feel-good night of singalong anthems from the chart-topping trio.

The rest of the week keeps the range wide. Sunday 9 August is a 70s double bill with Fleetwood Bac, billed as the world’s first Fleetwood Mac tribute show, alongside ABBA Fever. Monday 10 August leans into girl power, with K-Pop Superstars running through BTS, BLACKPINK and Seventeen, followed by Spice Girls Experience, an act Adele picked as support for her record-breaking residency in Munich. Tuesday 11 August is Falmouth Rocks night, with AC/DC tribute AC/DC UK and Guns N’ Roses tribute Guns 2 Roses. West Country institution The Wurzels bring cider, comedy and singalong classics on Wednesday 12 August. And the week closes on Saturday 15 August with an 80s vs 00s Extravaganza, the biggest fancy dress night of the run, as The 80s Pirates, DJ Fatboy Tim and comedy duo Kevin and Perry take the marquee out on throwback anthems.

Carnival Night on Saturday 8 August is the one free night in the marquee, open to all from 6pm with Falmouth Soul Sensation and support from Kernoasis. The headline nights are ticketed through Gigantic, and the opening Pink Wig night on Friday 7 August is ticketed separately.

The air display and a 95% eclipse

Wednesday 12 August is the day to circle. From 6.15pm, three display teams take to the skies over Falmouth Bay: the AeroSuperBatics Wingwalkers, the Royal Navy Raiders and the Flying Comrades. The Raiders parachute team will be landing near Pendennis Castle, and the whole thing plays out as a 95% partial solar eclipse crosses Cornwall, the most significant seen here since the total eclipse of 1999.

The eclipse is set to peak at 7.16pm in the western sky, and organisers are asking everyone watching to wear proper eye protection. The Wurzels follow in the marquee once the planes are down.

A few practical notes come with the day. There is a drone restriction across the whole of Falmouth for the duration of the display, and a temporary vessel exclusion zone on the water from 5.30pm until the display ends, marked by large yellow race markers and enforced by Falmouth Harbour, the RNLI and PoFSA. No boats or marine craft of any kind may enter the display area during that window. From a pink parade to a beach takeover

The headliners pull the evenings, but there is plenty going on by day, much of it free to drop into.

The week opens on Friday 7 August with the Pink Wig Mermaid March, a ticketed parade that sets off at 7pm after a reception at The Greenbank Hotel and turns the streets pink in support of The Mermaid Centre, Cornwall’s dedicated breast cancer facility, with a silent disco to follow. Tickets are on the Pink Wig 2026 page. Saturday 8 August brings Falmouth Carnival, a procession from Falmouth Rugby Club through town raising money for local groups and charities.

New for 2026, Tuesday 11 August moves down to Gyllyngvase Beach for a full day of free family activity. Hotch Potch Theatre’s washed-up mermaid tells sea-themed stories on the hour from 11am to 2pm, then meets and greets along the beach on her “land legs” for the rest of the day. There is a mobile rockpool from The Rock Pool Project, supervised beach games from the Dracaena Centre, knot-tying with the Children’s Sailing Trust, and stands from Gweek Seal Sanctuary, Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Plastic Free Falmouth, Sand Safe and the beach rangers, plus the Rewind Radio team broadcasting from the sand.

On the Moor and around Events Square

Away from the day’s headline events, two parts of town run their own programmes across the week.

The Moor fills up with things to do, most of them free. Boom Circus runs ground-based circus skills on Saturday 8 August, and Cornwall Murder Mystery Co sets a pirate whodunnit loose on Sunday 9 August. There is mini-golf, the Army’s mobile climbing wall, free drop-in creative workshops from Falmouth Art Gallery tied to its Mirrors: Reflecting on Identity exhibition, daily stories from Falmouth Library at 1pm, face painting from Kerry’s Krazy Faces, a lino-printing session, local food traders and a Market on the Moor. Music on the Moor adds live acts on the hour, from 11am to 3pm, Wednesday 12 to Saturday 15 August.

Over at Events Square, the Falmouth Observation Wheel offers 360-degree views across the harbour and town, with tickets booked on the day, and the Discovery Market brings artisan goods, makers and crafts to the square from Saturday 8 to Sunday 16 August. The National Maritime Museum Cornwall is on the same quay, and an observation wheel ticket gets ten per cent off museum admission.

The sailing that started it all

For all the pop stars and stunt planes, the reason any of this exists is out on the water. Falmouth Week traces back to a local sailing regatta first held in 1837, one of the longest-running maritime traditions in the South West. What started as a race for local sailors has grown, across nearly 190 years, into ten days of entertainment on land, though the racing is still the heart of it.

The regatta itself runs from Saturday 8 to Saturday 15 August, with races hosted by a different PoFSA club each day and daily and series winners crowned. Crews can enter the full week or a shorter three-day series from 13 to 15 August. Getting there

Falmouth is busy at the best of times, and organisers are warning it will be extremely busy across the week, with delays likely after the air display in particular. Public transport is the advice. There is a park and ride and float service from the Ponsharden car park, and town bus services run with tap-on, tap-off payment from the stop outside McDonald’s.

A few closures are worth knowing before you set off. The town centre is pedestrianised during the Pink Wig parade on Friday 7 August, Falmouth Carnival on Saturday 8 August and the air display on Wednesday 12 August, with the seafront closed to traffic while the planes are up. Church Street car park is closed for the whole of Falmouth Week, and Falmouth Town train station is closed on Wednesday 12 August, so trains are best taken to Falmouth Docks, where a managed queueing system will be in place.
