Newquay’s Killacourt steps closed this week for repairs
If your usual way down through Killacourt runs past Blue Reef Aquarium, you will need to find another route this week. Newquay Town Council has closed that flight of steps while essential repair works are carried out, though the rest of the green stays open as normal.

The steps by Blue Reef Aquarium are shut
The steps that run down from Killacourt to street level next to the aquarium are closed for the duration of the works. The council has not said how long the repairs will take, only that the closure is temporary and the work is essential.
The central route through Killacourt stays open
Anyone crossing Newquay‘s Killacourt on foot does not need to change their route entirely. The central steps and pathway through the middle of the green remain open throughout, so it is still possible to walk from the top of the site down towards the harbour, just not via the closed flight by the aquarium.
The council has apologised for the inconvenience and thanked residents and visitors for their patience while the improvements are completed, though no date has yet been given for when the closed steps will reopen.
