Wadebridge’s noticeboards, and the one that’s locked

Stand at the noticeboard by the play park in Egloshayle and there’s a small town’s worth of goings-on pinned to the same square of cork: a gaming club, a whist drive short of players, a lung condition support group, a tennis club’s anniversary and a play called Twisters. Wadebridge Town Council says there’s room for plenty more, and it wants people to know exactly where to put it.

Four boards around town

The council has confirmed the location of its public noticeboards, spread around the parish so local groups, clubs and organisations have somewhere to advertise what they’re doing. They can be found at Egloshayle Park, at the end of Anneka’s Bridge, outside the Co-op and Baker Tom’s, and at B&M.

The spaces are provided, in the council’s own words, for the promotion of local groups and notification of events taking place within the Wadebridge parish.

Three you can use yourself

For three of the four, putting a poster up is as simple as turning up with one. The boards at Egloshayle Park, at the end of Anneka’s Bridge and outside the Co-op and Baker Tom’s are all open for anyone to use themselves.

The one you can’t just walk up to

The fourth board, at B&M, works differently. It’s locked, so any poster meant for that spot needs to be dropped off at the Town Hall instead, where the council will arrange for it to be displayed.

The council has asked that everything posted stays appropriate and in keeping with the purpose of the boards, and it reserves the right to remove any notice it considers otherwise.

“We look forward to seeing more local events, activities, and community groups being shared around Wadebridge,” the council said.
