St Ives night patrol seizes alcohol, man held over drugs

Trewyn Gardens and the seafront are usually where St Ives winds down of an evening. Last night they were also where police drew a line.

What happened

The St Ives Neighbourhood Team, working alongside the Neighbourhood Support Team, ran a proactive operation across the town aimed at drug dealing, anti-social behaviour and licensing issues. Plain-clothes officers went into licensed premises to look for suspicious activity and check they were meeting their licensing conditions, while uniformed colleagues carried out foot patrols in key areas of town.

What they found

Officers seized alcohol from several underage drinkers in Trewyn Gardens and the Memorial Gardens. One man was also detained after officers found he was in possession of Class A drugs. He remains under investigation.

The force’s message

Police say they remain committed to keeping St Ives a safe place to live, work and visit, and will keep taking action against those involved in criminality and anti-social behaviour in the town. No further details on the licensing checks or the man under investigation have been released.
