Cornwall weather: Friday 16 October, sunny spells and a chillier feel

Grab the sunglasses, but keep a jumper handy too. Cornwall is in for a run of bright, breezy days from today, with plenty of sunshine between the clouds and a noticeably colder edge in the wind. The Met Office regional forecast for the South West has Cornwall’s weather staying largely settled into the weekend, with the first proper rain holding off until early next week.

Today, Friday 16 October

Today brings plenty of sunshine in between patchy cloud, though it will feel noticeably chillier in a northwesterly breeze. Temperatures are still around average for the time of year, reaching a high of 16°C. There is the chance of the odd isolated shower around lunchtime, so one might catch you out, but most of the day stays dry and bright.

Tonight

A chillier night is on the way, especially under clearer skies with light northerly winds. More cloud pushes in later with a risk of showers along the west coast. The temperature dips to a low of 3°C, so it will be a cold one, and a clear sign that autumn nights are drawing in.

Saturday

Saturday (17 October) gets off to a bright start, with prolonged spells of sunshine lasting right through the day. Temperatures hold around average for mid October, topping out at 15°C. A good day to be outside before the weather starts to turn.

The outlook, Sunday to Tuesday

Sunday (18 October) again serves up plenty of sunshine to begin with, before the cloud gradually builds. From Monday (19 October) into Tuesday (20 October) the settled spell breaks down, with some welcome rain moving in. After a dry stretch that will be a change of tune, so if the ground near you has been crying out for a drink, the start of next week should finally oblige.
