Cornwall RLFC is set to embark on an arduous 925-mile journey to face Workington Town in this Sunday’s exciting Betfred League 1 matchup.
The game, scheduled for 1:00 pm, promises intense action as Cornwall’s squad tackles the challenges posed by key player absences.
Key Players Out
Mike Abbott, the head coach of Cornwall RLFC, has announced a 21-man squad for the upcoming game. Notably, the team will be without its captain, Adam Rusling, who is still recovering from a leg injury sustained earlier in the season. Adam’s absence comes as a setback after his brief return in the last game against the Midlands Hurricanes.
Adding to the squad’s challenges, Nathan Cullen will miss the game due to a shoulder injury, and Harry Boots is still under observation following a concussion incurred in the match against Oldham on April 14.
Squad Additions and Returns
Despite these hurdles, there are some positive updates for the Cornwall team. George Mitchell makes a welcome return to the wing after sitting out the previous game. Additionally, there’s excitement around Aaron Small, who is set to make his season debut after transferring from London Skolars in the off-season.
The squad also sees the inclusion of prop Josh Rhodes, currently on loan from Championship team Batley Bulldogs, whose tenure with Cornwall continues until next week.
Squad Details
Here is the complete list of players travelling for Sunday’s match: Aaronson, C Abbott, Ashton, Bannister, Black, Brown, Collins, Conroy, Dimech, Lloyd, Marvin, Mitchell, Nichol, O’Callaghan, Punchard, Rhodes, Ross, Sander, Small, Trerise, Weetman.
As Cornwall RLFC prepares for their crucial away game, the blend of returning players and new additions aims to offset the impact of missing key personnel. Fans are gearing up for what promises to be a riveting encounter as their team navigates the challenges of injuries and long-distance travel in pursuit of a victory against Workington Town.
