Cornwall Council is urging the public to stay vigilant and report any illegal activity that harms wildlife, pets, or livestock. Whether it’s poaching, animal cruelty, or suspected poisoning, quick reporting can help authorities take action.

How to Report Wildlife Crime

For live incidents of wildlife harm—including coursing, poaching, animal cruelty, and hunting with dogs—people are advised to call 999 immediately. If the situation is not urgent, reports can be made via 101 or online through the Devon & Cornwall Police website.

Suspected Poisoning

Anyone who comes across suspected wildlife, pet, or livestock poisoning should report it to the Wildlife Incident Investigation Scheme by calling 0800 321600. The police should also be informed by calling 101.

Illegal Fishing and Poaching

Cases of illegal fishing should be reported directly to the Environment Agency on 0800 807060.

By reporting these crimes, the public can help protect Cornwall’s wildlife and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
