Cornwall Airport Newquay Shares 2026 Route Map and Winter Schedule
Cornwall Airport Newquay has shared its 2026 route map and winter schedule, setting out how it plans to keep Cornwall connected through the colder months and into the years ahead.
The airport says bookings are already open for summer routes to Dublin and the USA with Aer Lingus, Düsseldorf with Eurowings, Zürich with Edelweiss, and Newcastle and Glasgow with Loganair.
The update comes as the airport highlights both current options for travellers and the work that goes on behind the scenes to secure future routes.
Winter and summer connections
The airport describes itself as a “ProperLocal airport” and says its current network is designed to cover everything from city breaks to longer trips abroad.
While the focus is on winter connectivity, the announcement also looks ahead to summer 2026, with a mix of European and UK destinations already available to book.
Why new routes take time
The airport has also explained why adding new destinations is not straightforward.
According to the update, airlines plan their schedules around 15 months in advance, meaning decisions made now may not result in flights until much later. Market research is used to understand passenger demand and guide discussions with airlines, ensuring potential routes are ones people are likely to use.
Fleet availability is another factor, as airlines need to have enough aircraft and crew to operate new services. Even where demand exists, airlines must also be able to secure suitable slots, both in their own schedules and at destination airports.
Profitability plays a key role too, with routes needing to be sustainable for airlines. The airport says it works on building a business case to show why a route could succeed from Newquay.
Competition from other airports is also taken into account, particularly where travellers choose to fly from Exeter or Bristol if fares appear cheaper, without factoring in petrol and parking costs.
Commitment to growth
Despite the challenges, the airport says it remains committed to growing its network and strengthening its finances, facilities and wider estate, with the aim of delivering the routes passengers want and need.
The full 2026 route map and winter schedule form part of that longer term approach to keeping Cornwall connected year round.
