Coastguard Called to Assist Injured Person at Boobys Bay
Emergency services were called to Boobys Bay on Friday 3rd January after a person fell on rocks near the coast.
Coastguard Tasking
HM Coastguard Padstow was tasked at 2.43pm to reports of a person who had fallen on rocks near Boobys Bay. The Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team was also tasked to assist.
When teams arrived on scene, the casualty had been located and members of the public were already administering first aid. Coastguard teams took over care and carried out an assessment.
Medical Support on Scene
It was decided the casualty should not be moved until they had been medically checked by a paramedic. A South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust paramedic arrived shortly afterwards.
While awaiting confirmation that it was safe to move the casualty, a hand rail was put in place by the teams to support a safe extrication.
Casualty Handed Over
Once it was confirmed safe to do so, the casualty was moved to the coast path and handed over into the care of South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust for further treatment.
HM Coastguard Padstow said they wish the casualty a swift recovery and thanked members of the public for their assistance.
Anyone who sees someone in difficulty on or near the coast is advised to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
