New Camel Trail fencing in Bodmin guards a steep drop

A stretch of timber fencing on a main route onto the Camel Trail in Bodmin has been replaced from end to end. What it holds people back from is the reason the job was a tricky one.

What was done

Cormac’s Landscape Construction team completed a full replacement of the timber fencing along a key access route to the Camel Trail. The fencing sits beside a steep drop onto the trail, and its purpose is to keep pedestrians and cyclists back from the edge on a route that stays busy year-round.

Why the site made it difficult

The ground on site was unstable, and parts of the work meant working at height. To handle that, the team installed a scaffold working platform, giving them a safe and stable base to build from.

Cormac worked in partnership with an approved contractor on the scheme. The work area was kept segregated from the public throughout, and Cormac said disruption to people using the trail was kept to a minimum while the fencing went in.
