Newquay’s autumn diary: zombies, drones and a lantern parade
Nine dates, eleven weeks, and it all starts with zombies.
Newquay BID has published its autumn diary for the town, a run of events that begins with a Zombie Crawl on Saturday 24 October and ends with a fancy dress party in the streets on New Year’s Eve. In between come a drone show, fireworks, a lantern parade and a full weekend of Christmas lights and markets.
The organisation says the events are “bringing people into town and creating opportunities for local businesses to get involved, promote offers and encourage footfall”.

Halloween comes first
The Newquay Zombie Crawl opens the programme on Saturday 24 October. The poster for the event lists it as free, with face painting, wound making, pumpkin carving, storytelling and an appearance from Titan the Robot among the attractions.
A day later, on Sunday 25 October, there is Halloween Fun at Trenance Cottages.
Halloween itself falls on a Saturday this year, and Newquay marks 31 October with Earthwave.
Fireworks, a market and lanterns in November
November opens with Autumn Fest at Tolcarne Beach on Sunday 1 November.
The Drone Show and Fireworks follow at the Sports Centre on Friday 6 November, with the Big Newquay Market the next day, Saturday 7 November.
The Lantern Parade is on Friday 20 November.
Christmas lights and New Year’s Eve
The festive weekend runs from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November, billed as Christmas Lights, Markets and Festivities.
The year closes on Thursday 31 December with the NYE Town Fancy Dress Party.

A call to Newquay businesses
Alongside the dates, Newquay BID is asking businesses in the town to send in anything they have planned, so it can be shared across Love Newquay.
That could be “a special offer, event, new product, late-night opening, Christmas activity or something you think people should know about”.
“We’d love to help highlight your business across Love Newquay and encourage people to get out, explore and support local,” the organisation said. “Let’s make the most of everything happening in Newquay this autumn!”
