Aidan Stone stays at Truro City despite summer interest

Other clubs came calling over the summer. Aidan Stone is staying put.

Truro City has announced that its goalkeeper has signed a new multi-year contract, keeping the 27-year-old at the Truro City Stadium until 2029.

From Burnley to the Duchy

Born in Stafford, Aidan learned his trade at Burnley, now in the EFL Championship. He went on to spells in the professional game with Mansfield, Notts County and Port Vale.

He spent the second half of the 2024/25 season at Yeovil Town, then moved to Cornwall ahead of last term to join City for the club’s first ever National League campaign in football‘s fifth tier.

Why staying was “an easy decision”

“It was an easy decision to sign a new contract,” Aidan told the club’s website. “There was some interest in the summer from various clubs, but Truro have demonstrated their faith in me by offering me a new deal.

“Truro is a good place to be around at the moment because you can see what the club wants to do in the future. That matches where I am at in my career because I have been at clubs where I have flickered in and out of the team.”

Making the number one shirt his own

For a keeper who has known what it is like to be in and out of the side, regular football was the goal when he arrived.

“When I came here I really wanted to nail down the goalkeeper’s position and play regular football. The club have allowed me to do that with a new deal, but you only get there with hard work and performances.

“The goal is to maintain that, and the boys have been brilliant so far this season.”
