What happened on Launceston Road
The incident was shared on the Callington Police Facebook page, where officers did not hold back.
“Let’s be absolutely clear: this behaviour is extremely dangerous and completely unacceptable,” the post said.
Why police are so concerned
Officers pointed out that fireworks are explosives, and used irresponsibly they can cause serious and life-changing injuries.
Throwing lit fireworks puts pedestrians, motorists and nearby residents at risk, along with anyone else who happens to be close by. Police listed severe burns, permanent eye injuries, hearing damage and fires among the dangers.
Drivers are a worry too. A firework going off nearby can startle someone behind the wheel, which police said could lead to a serious crash.
“Once a firework has been lit and thrown, there is no control over where it lands or who it might injure,” the post added.
A message for parents
Police want parents and guardians in particular to talk to young people about the serious consequences of this kind of behaviour.
With Bonfire Night this Thursday (5 November), the safest way to see fireworks is at an organised event. Our guide to every Bonfire Night display in Cornwall for 2026, with dates and prices, lists what’s on near you.
