Cornish Pirates Announce Five Dual-Registered Players from Exeter Chiefs
In a significant boost to their squad for the upcoming season, the Cornish Pirates have announced the names of five talented players who will be dual registered from Exeter Chiefs. This move aims to strengthen their team as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
Hallam Chapman: Versatile Forward
- DoB: 1st October 1997
- Birthplace: Devon
- Height: 6’4” (1.93m)
- Weight: 18st 13lbs (120kg)
- Position/s: Back row/Lock
- Honours: England Students 7s, England Counties U20s, Lancashire, Somerset
A Devon-born lock forward, who can also play in the back row, Hallam Chapman joined the Chiefs in October 2023 after his previous club, Jersey Reds, ceased trading. He has also played for Sedgley Park and Plymouth Albion and made a brief appearance for the Cornish Pirates last season while on loan.
Iwan Jenkins: Talented Fly-Half
- DoB: 13th March 2003
- Birthplace: Cardiff
- Height: 5’8” (1.77m)
- Weight: 12st 9lbs (82kg)
- Position: Fly-half
- Honours: Wales U20s
A former student of Y Pant School and Exeter College, Iwan Jenkins has represented Wales U20s. Last season, he made 11 appearances for the Cornish Pirates and scored 44 points. Iwan has also showcased his skills with Exeter Chiefs in the Premiership Rugby Cup.
Charlie McCaig: Promising Centre
- DoB: 24th January 2003
- Birthplace: Honiton
- Height: 6’2” (1.91m)
- Weight: 14st 8lbs (94kg)
- Position: Centre
Charlie McCaig began his rugby journey at Sidmouth RFC and progressed through the Chiefs’ Developing Player Programme (DPP). Educated at Perrott Hill and Sherborne School, he played a pivotal role in the University of Exeter’s First XV, which won the BUCS title in 2022.
Sol Moody: Rising Hooker
- DoB: 16th April 2005
- Birthplace: Bury St. Edmunds
- Height: 6’1” (1.85m)
- Weight: 15st 10lbs (100kg)
- Position: Hooker
- Honours: England U19s
Sol Moody joined the Chiefs for the 2023/24 season from their Academy. His hard work earned him a spot in the England U19s team. Sol was educated at Finborough School and previously played for Northampton Saints in an under 18 Premiership Cup Final.
Chester Ribbons: Experienced Centre
- DoB: 30th January 2003
- Birthplace: Harrogate
- Height: 6’2” (1.91m)
- Weight: 15st (95kg)
- Position: Centre
Chester Ribbons started his rugby career at Wetherby RUFC and progressed through the age grades at the Yorkshire Academy. He was educated at King James School in Harrogate and Exeter University, where he captained their side.
Positive Outlook from the Coaching Staff
Gavin Cattle, joint head coach of the Cornish Pirates, expressed his satisfaction with the new additions. He emphasised the strong relationship with the Chiefs and the high calibre of players joining the team. “With a balance of youth and experience, this blend will be beneficial for us in the Championship. We look forward to pushing these boys on,” Gavin stated.
