Second League Match Victory For Newquay

Newquay Ladies AFC claimed a decisive 5-1 victory in their away match against Padstow for their second league game of the season. The two teams had met earlier in pre-season, and it was expected to be a challenging match. After winning the toss, Newquay decided to play against the slope, and the ladies quickly settled into the game, showing their dominance from the outset.

First Half Lead

With solid defensive play keeping Padstow’s chances to a minimum, Newquay capitalised on their opportunities. A series of sharp link-ups led to Bobbie Smyth scoring the first goal just before half-time, assisted by Liz Mears, giving Newquay a deserved 1-0 lead going into the break.

Second Half Push

In the second half, Newquay knew they needed to make the most of their chances, but Padstow managed to equalise, bringing the score to 1-1. However, Newquay remained confident, and their persistence paid off. Keira set up Kaz for her first goal, putting Newquay back in the lead at 2-1. Momentum grew as they pressed for more goals, and a handball in the box awarded Newquay a penalty. Liz stepped up and calmly slotted the ball home, extending the lead to 3-1.

Continued Pressure and More Goals

Newquay Ladies didn’t stop there. With brilliant teamwork and attacking play, Olympia scored the fourth goal after an assist from Bobbie. Even after a formation change and player rotation, the team’s confidence remained high. In the final ten minutes, Snowy added a fifth goal, assisted by Allie, securing a convincing 5-1 final score.

Player Highlights

Standout performances included Allie, who was named the manager’s player, and Olympia, voted players’ player. Liz was also recognised with the Moose vote for her efforts on the pitch. The goals came from Chloe Whatley, Kaz, Olympia, Liz, and Bobbie.

Newquay Ladies AFC thanked their sponsors Beacon VetCare, Red Lion Newquay, Oltco Ltd, Chy Lowen Early Years and Pre-School, Laura Rickard Mortgages Ltd, and Newquay AFC for their continued support.

Wishing Padstow the best for the rest of their season, Newquay Ladies are clearly building momentum as a team and growing stronger with every match.
