Exeter Chiefs’ Eoin O’Connor Joins Cornish Pirates on Loan
The Cornish Pirates have announced that Eoin O’Connor, a 24-year-old lock from Exeter Chiefs, has joined the club on loan. The Waterford-born player, who previously represented Ireland at under-18 and under-19 levels, will be looking to make an impact at the Mennaye Field.
Impressive Background
Before moving to Exeter Chiefs, Eoin spent four years with Munster, where he gained valuable experience playing in both the United Rugby Championship and the Heineken Champions Cup. His time with Munster is seen as a strong foundation for his future career, and his move to the Pirates is expected to be a significant opportunity for both him and his new teammates.
Welcomed by the Cornish Pirates
Cornish Pirates joint head coach Alan Paver expressed his excitement at Eoin’s arrival, emphasising the value he brings to the squad. “We are delighted to bring someone of Eoin’s quality into our squad. Not only are we in need of such a quality second-row but it will also be an experience and opportunity for the guys around him to learn,” said Alan.
Eoin’s presence at the Cornish Pirates is seen as mutually beneficial, giving him a chance to gain game time while offering the squad valuable experience. Alan added, “No doubt he’ll be chomping at the bit to get some game time to keep his rugby journey going, and warmly welcoming him to Cornwall and to the Mennaye we expect him to fully enjoy his time with us.”
