Cornish Pirates Set to Put Their Best Foot Forward Against Bedford Blues

Published On: 11 October 2024Last Updated: 11 October 2024By

The Cornish Pirates are preparing for their next match this Saturday with a home game against Bedford Blues at the Mennaye Field, kicking off at 2:30pm. With recent encounters between the two teams proving close and entertaining, fans can expect another thrilling clash. However, the Pirates will be looking to break a streak, having lost at home to Bedford for the past two seasons.

Pirates Hungry for Victory

After last Friday’s loss to London Scottish, the Pirates have extra motivation to secure a win and bounce back. Coach Joe Walsh commented ahead of the game, expressing the importance of continuity and clarity in the team, especially following a tough couple of weeks with injuries. Walsh also noted that Bedford are known for their aggressive attacking play and that the Pirates’ defence will need to stay connected and apply pressure throughout the game.

New Faces in the Line-up

Team selection this week sees several players making their first league starts for the Pirates. Centre Charlie McCaig, lock Charlie Rice, and flanker Tomiwa Agbongbon will be in the starting line-up, with McCaig’s inclusion moving Matt McNab out to the wing in place of Robin Wedlake. Scrum half Cam Jones, now fit, also returns to the starting line-up.

On the bench, replacement hooker Sol Moody is set to make his Championship debut, while Redruth forward Jack King, who joined the Pirates on loan this week, will be ready to make his first appearance.

The Cornish Pirates full selection for Saturday is as follows:
