Cornish Prop Returns: Alfie Petch Set for Mennaye Clash

The Cornish Pirates have announced the return of prop Alfie Petch, joining the squad on a short-term loan from Gloucester. Alfie, a Cornishman and former England U20s international, is set to play in the starting XV against Doncaster Knights at Mennaye Field this Sunday, with kick-off at 2.30pm.

A Familiar Face Returns

Alfie, who is celebrating his 25th birthday this weekend, is no stranger to the Cornish Pirates. He made 23 appearances for the side during the 2021-22 season while dual registered with Exeter Chiefs. Since then, he has had stints with Northampton Saints and French side Biarritz before returning to England earlier this year to join Gloucester.

His return to the Mennaye Field brings added experience and a touch of familiarity as the Pirates look ahead to Sunday’s challenge.

Joining Alfie in the squad is prop Craig Williams, listed among the replacements. Craig, aged 38, has been loaned from Redruth to provide extra injury cover. A seasoned player, Craig has previously represented Cornwall and England Counties, earning respect for his robust performances over the years.
