Truro City Announce Signing of Saikou Janneh
New signing adds experience to Truro City’s attack
Truro City has confirmed the signing of forward Saikou Janneh, subject to international clearance. The 25-year-old has signed a deal at Truro City Stadium that runs until the end of the 2025–26 Enterprise National League season.
A journey across leagues
Born in The Gambia, Saikou moved to the UK as a teenager and began his footballing journey with Bath City. His performances in the Western League for both Clevedon and Cadbury Heath soon drew attention, leading to a move to SkyBet Championship side Bristol City in 2018.
Loan spells and league success
During his four years at Ashton Gate, Saikou gained valuable experience through loan spells with Newport County, Shrewsbury Town, and Torquay United. His most productive spell came at Torquay during the 2018–19 season, where he scored in double figures as the side secured the National League South title.
Recent seasons abroad
Following his time with Bristol City, Saikou joined Cambridge United and later went on loan to AFC Wimbledon during the 2022–23 campaign. After being released by Cambridge in the summer of 2024, he moved abroad to play for Al-Jazira in Kuwait’s Division One.
Now, Saikou brings his experience back to English football as he begins a new chapter with Truro City.
