Truro City have confirmed the loan signing of defender George Cooper from Mansfield Town.

The 23 year old joins the Tinners on a temporary deal that will run until the end of the 2025/26 Enterprise National League season. Mansfield Town currently compete in SkyBet League 1.

From Field Mill to Truro

George came through the ranks at Field Mill and made his professional debut for Mansfield during the 2021/22 season in the EFL Trophy. That campaign saw him make two substitute appearances and start in a home fixture against Sheffield Wednesday.

The same season included a loan spell with National League North side Kettering Town, with further temporary moves following in later campaigns.

Back with Mansfield, George added to his EFL Trophy experience and scored in a 2 1 defeat against Burton Albion. He later spent time on loan at Kidderminster Harriers and with League of Ireland side Drogheda United.

Cooper Ready to Get Started

Speaking to trurocity.co.uk, George said he has already settled into life with his new club.

“I’ve been training a few times now with the lads and I’m really enjoying things at Truro and can’t wait to get going on the pitch,” he said.

“There is a nice energy around the place and as an honest individual, playing at centre half, I love defending and I will always give my all. I’m looking forward to the fans seeing plenty of that.

“This second half of the season is going to be a challenge and it is one I am looking forward to. There are plenty of games to be played and plenty of points up for grabs.

“We have picked up some valuable points over Christmas and that is only going to add to the momentum built going into the new year.

“I can’t wait to be at the Truro City Stadium on Saturday, ready to go and help the team push on to stay up.”

George will now be available for selection as Truro City look to build on recent results and continue their fight in the Enterprise National League.
