Comedy Show King Arthur Runs at the Minack 1st to 4th June

There is something fitting about the legend of King Arthur landing at the Minack, a theatre carved into the rock above the sea. From the 1st to the 4th of June 2026, the open-air venue at Porthcurno will host a version of the story that swaps solemn knights for slapstick.

Le Navet Bete, the comedy theatre company behind hit shows Dracula: The Bloody Truth, Treasure Island and Oh Zeus!, are bringing their family-friendly show King Arthur to the clifftop stage in Penzance.

What the show is about

Camelot is in trouble. Arthur knows that if he doesn’t turn things around, his civilisation will be forgotten and remembered as nothing more than a rather dull time in British history. Then three hapless squires approach him about changing that legacy, and a legend is born.

The show is a retelling of the Arthurian legends pitched at the whole family. It was co-created by John Nicholson, one of the UK’s well-regarded comedy writers and directors.

Who are Le Navet Bete

The company is made up of Al Dunn, Nick Bunt and Matt Freeman. Since 2008 they have toured the UK and internationally with a chaotic style of physical comedy, building a reputation as one of the country’s leading midscale theatre companies. Based in Exeter, Devon, they are supported by organisations including Arts Council England, the Exeter Northcott Theatre and the Exeter Phoenix. Their stated aim is to make accessible comedy theatre for everyone, ages 4 to 104.

For Al, the run is a homecoming. “As a Cornish born performer it is such a pleasure to be returning to the Minack after last year’s Treasure Island. This theatre is so well suited to our style of anarchic comedy and we can’t wait to be back!”

How to book

King Arthur runs at the Minack Theatre in Porthcurno from Monday the 1st to Thursday the 4th of June 2026, with performances at 2.30pm, 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets are available through the Minack website or by calling 01736 810181.

The age guidance is 8+. The show includes replica weapons, fireworks and loud noises, and runs for 2 hours and 20 minutes including an interval.
