Truro City sign free-scoring striker Omar Bogle

A striker with a decade of Championship and EFL goals behind him has put pen to paper at Truro City, giving the Tinners’ forward line some serious added weight ahead of the new season.

A permanent deal to the end of the season

Omar Bogle has signed for Truro City on a permanent deal that runs to the end of the 2026/27 Enterprise National League South campaign. The 33-year-old arrives as a free agent after two seasons with Sky Bet League Two side Crewe Alexandra.

From Midlands academies to a Non-League goal machine

Bogle cut his teeth in the youth ranks at Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion, and further north at Celtic. His career really got moving back in the Midlands, first at Hinckley, then at Solihull Moors. At Damson Park he scored at a rate of just over one goal every two games and was named National League North player of the season.

In 2015 he left Solihull for Grimsby Town, and helped fire the Mariners back into the English Football League.

A decade at Championship level and beyond

The Championship followed, with spells at both Wigan Athletic and Cardiff City. While at Cardiff, Bogle also went out on loan to Birmingham City, Portsmouth and Peterborough United.

More recently he has turned out for Charlton Athletic, Doncaster Rovers, Hartlepool United and Newport County, where he topped the Exiles’ scoring charts in 2022/23 with 19 goals. After leaving Rodney Parade, Bogle joined Crewe in the summer of 2024. He now becomes Truro City’s seventh new addition of the summer.

What Bogle had to say

Bogle told trurocity.co.uk that talking to the manager about the club’s plans had been key to his decision. “Having spoken to the Gaffer, about the plans the club has got, it was important for me at the stage of my life and career, to join a project,” he said. “This club has been building for the last few years and the Gaffer really sold it to me.”

“I have had great years in non-League with Solihull and Grimsby and then the last 10 years in the EFL, so I have a lot of experience with me. Hopefully I can use that, to help the boys achieve what they want to achieve which is promotion.”

“From me personally, I hope the fans will see goals, excitement and I like to express myself when I am on the pitch. I will work hard for the team, but ultimately my job here is to score goals and create goals.”
