If you’re planning a trip across Bude over the next couple of months, it’s worth building in a bit of extra time. Three separate sets of roadworks are queuing up across town as Wales & West Utilities pushes on with its gas pipe upgrade programme, and between them they will keep traffic lights and closures in place right into November.

A closure already in place
Holnicote Road is currently closed between Broadclose Hill and Killerton Road, and will stay that way until 4 September. Bude-Stratton Town Council shared the update on Facebook, flagging it as advance warning of the works still to come.
Kings Hill and Stratton Road next in line
Once Holnicote Road reopens, the works move elsewhere. Temporary traffic lights go up on Kings Hill from 14 September to 15 October, followed by a second set on Stratton Road from 5 October to 13 November.
Part of a wider £1.2 million upgrade
The works are part of a £1.2 million programme to upgrade the gas network across Bude. Wales & West Utilities and the town council are asking drivers to allow extra time for journeys while the works are underway.
For about ten days in early October, the Kings Hill and Stratton Road works will be running at the same time, putting temporary lights at both ends of town at once.
