Cornwall outdoes Devon on 2026 Outstanding Sites list
Pack the tent. Cornwall has come out on top in a national rundown of the country’s best places to camp, and it has left its neighbour trailing by some distance.
With the summer holidays around the corner, the experts at Campsites.co.uk have revealed their annual list of the top 150 Outstanding Sites for 2026. Seventeen Cornwall campsites made the cut, six more than Devon, which managed eleven.

A working farm that became a holiday park
Wooda Farm Holiday Park on the outskirts of Bude was one of the Cornwall sites featured. The family-run park is packed with activities and facilities, and it has built a name with families after an active getaway. Onsite experiences run from cheerleading classes and Segway sessions to archery, tractor tours, craft workshops, badminton and tennis, so there is plenty to fill the day without leaving the gates.
Food and drink matter here too, with a strong focus on sourcing ingredients as locally as possible around Bude. The Lodge Takeaway serves favourites including fish and chips, burgers, pizzas, rice bowls and fresh salads, alongside local food pop-ups and Cornish-inspired cocktails. There is a farm shop onsite, and an ice cream parlour is due to open in the coming months.
Nearly a century in one family
Wooda’s story began nearly 100 years ago, and the park has stayed in the hands of the Colwill family ever since. The holiday park opened in 1975, but its roots reach back much further, to a working farm. It was first brought into the family by Samuel, known as Jim, and Bessie Colwill, who ran a bed and breakfast from the farmhouse while looking after around 200 sheep and 50 dairy cows.
Visitors can still spot echoes of that past around the site. Original milk churns and farming tools are on display in the Courtyard Bar, which was once the farm’s milking parlour.
What the campers say
Guests are clearly fans. The park holds a 4.8-star rating on its travel listing, with 98% of visitors saying they would recommend it. Reviews describe it as a “1st class holiday resort”, and one guest reckoned the “showers and toilets would look good in a top end spa hotel”. It is the third year running that Wooda has appeared on the list.

How the list is decided
The Outstanding Sites list pulls together the best camping, glamping and touring sites across the UK, from family parks with pools and children’s activities to adult-only hideaways and luxury glamping built for hotel-style comfort outdoors. Sites are picked on verified guest reviews covering value for money, quality of facilities, location, service and cleanliness, along with performance and engagement metrics and what the platform calls enthusiastic editorial debate.
Campsites.co.uk is used by more than 10 million people a year and lets travellers compare over 3,000 sites, each with descriptions, photography and guest reviews. It holds a 4.8 score on Trustpilot.
Founder Martin Smith said launching the list was a real pleasure. “The chosen campsites are all trusted favourites with our campers, and sites we’re proud to put our name to, so you can book with confidence.”
