Ducks, a quiz and chocolate for Oddfellows in Redruth and Truro
Two very large bars of chocolate changed hands this autumn. One went to the owner of the fastest duck. The other went to Sandra, who knew her autumn trivia better than anyone in the room.
Members of the Oddfellows Friendly Society gathered at Redruth’s Oddfellows Hall in Green Lane and at Kea Community Centre at Playing Place, Truro, for an afternoon of games, fundraising and catching up with friends.

A duck race in Truro
The Truro gathering brought plenty of laughter and some friendly rivalry. Members picked a duck each and cheered it all the way to the finish line.
The overall winner took home a large bar of chocolate for their trouble.
Sandra tops the quiz in Redruth
Over in Redruth, members took on an autumn-themed quiz of 30 questions.
Sandra was the clear winner with 23 correct answers, and she was handed a large bar of chocolate too.
Shoeboxes, blankets and a raffle
The afternoons also had a purpose beyond the games. Members brought along a generous collection of items to help fill boxes for Sandra’s annual shoebox appeal.
Ann has been busy making large woollen blankets, which will be sold to raise money for the same appeal.
A prize raffle raised extra funds for a local charity, so members had the chance to win something while giving to a good cause.

Free books, cake and Sunday lunches
Members could browse a selection of free books, DVDs and puzzles to take home.
Plans were made for future Sunday Lunch Club gatherings, where members from across the district can meet up over a meal.
And there were refreshments, of course. Cakes, chocolate biscuits and fruit were on the table, with plenty of tea and coffee to go round.
