The Carlyon Bay Marks 100 Years of Luxury and Legacy

The Carlyon Bay in Cornwall has marked a century of hospitality with a glittering sold-out weekend that transported guests back to the 1920s.

A Weekend of Elegance and Celebration

Honouring its 100th anniversary, the hotel treated guests to an Art Deco-themed experience featuring fine dining, live swing music, and a spectacular firework display over the bay. The celebrations included displays showcasing the hotel’s rich history, a champagne reception, and a striking Art Deco-inspired cake as the centrepiece of the festivities.

Guests and team members came together to celebrate the milestone, reflecting on the hotel’s journey and the many memories made over the decades.

A Century of Stories and Success

The Carlyon Bay Hotel was purchased by the Brend family in 1982, marking the start of a new era of investment and transformation. Since then, it has hosted sports stars, actors, politicians, and several members of the Royal Family. Under Brend ownership, it became Cornwall’s first four-star hotel and has since earned numerous national and regional awards for its hospitality, fine dining, and leisure facilities.

Looking to the Future

The Brend Group has confirmed further investment in the property, with significant refurbishments planned for public areas and bedrooms this winter. Ambitious expansion plans are also in motion to enhance Carlyon Bay’s reputation as one of the UK’s top coastal destinations.

The resort’s facilities include an award-winning spa, a championship golf course, multiple dining options, and a sought-after wedding venue overlooking St Austell Bay.

Founded in 1955, the Brend Collection now operates nine luxury hotels across Devon and Cornwall. The group was recently named AA Small Hotel Group of the Year, recognising its continued excellence across the South West.
