Four Gold Medals at County Level

Callum’s performance at the championships saw him top the podium in four demanding events, underlining his strength across multiple distances and disciplines.

The victories come as he continues to compete at national level, regularly racing against some of the strongest swimmers in the country. Alongside his county success, he is also performing at regional and national competitions.

Six Days a Week in the Pool

Behind the medals is a packed training schedule. Callum trains six days a week, with double sessions every Monday and Thursday. That means early mornings, long hours in the water and careful recovery, all balanced with his schoolwork.

The school says his determination and work ethic are already inspiring fellow students and young athletes.

Support from Launceston College

The achievement reflects Launceston College’s focus on supporting students to pursue excellence both inside and outside the classroom. The college backs talented athletes through its Elite Sports Academies, offering specialist coaching in football, rugby, cricket and other sports.

Matthew Thompson, Principal at Launceston College, said:

“Callum’s determination and dedication demonstrate a maturity beyond his years. Balancing school life with such a demanding training schedule takes enormous commitment and focus. He is a fantastic role model for other students, and everyone at Launceston College is incredibly proud of his achievements. We are excited to continue supporting him as he progresses on his swimming journey.”

Launceston College is rated Good by Ofsted for Quality of education, Behaviour and attitudes, Personal development, Leadership and management and Sixth form provision.

Inspectors noted that all pupils, including those with SEND, follow a broad and ambitious curriculum where new knowledge is learned in a logical order and builds on what students already know. Sixth form students study for qualifications well matched to their future aspirations, with suitably demanding work. Pupils attending the specially resourced provision follow a curriculum that meets their needs and capabilities.
