Pool Academy Students Attend Apprenticeships Fair During National Apprenticeship Week
Pool Students Get a Glimpse of Their Future During National Apprenticeship Week
Students at Pool Academy were given the chance to explore future career paths during National Apprenticeship Week after attending an Apprenticeships Fair at Cornwall College.
The visit offered students the opportunity to speak directly with employers, training providers and industry professionals about potential careers. They also learned how vocational courses can connect to real job opportunities, helping them think about the next steps in their education and future employment.

Exploring Career Opportunities
The event formed part of Pool Academy’s approach to helping students plan ahead. By meeting professionals and organisations involved in apprenticeships and training, students were able to gain a clearer picture of what different industries offer and what routes might be available to them.
Pool Academy, which is part of Athena Learning Trust, places a strong focus on supporting students as they prepare for life after school.
Support Throughout the Year
Alongside events such as the Apprenticeships Fair, the school runs a structured careers programme designed to help students develop the skills and confidence needed for the future.
This includes CV writing, letters of application, mock interviews, college visits, apprenticeship talks, work experience and employer led events. Students also receive guidance from staff and external partners to help them understand the range of education, training and employment opportunities available.
Encouraging Students to Aim High
Nick Ward, Principal at Pool Academy, said:
“Supporting our students to dream big is part of everyday life at Pool Academy. National Apprenticeship Week gives them a great chance to meet employers and explore opportunities, but we also provide guidance, experiences, and inspiration throughout the year to help them take their next steps with confidence.”
