Scott Temple joins CHAOS Radio’s new-look breakfast show

Cornwall’s radio dial gets a familiar voice back this month. After stints on some of the region’s best-known commercial stations, Scott Temple is swapping the bigger networks for something rooted closer to home, and he starts on the airwaves in St Austell in just over a week.

A new voice for CHAOS mornings

From Monday 14 September, Scott Temple will host a new weekday morning show on CHAOS Radio, broadcasting from 7am as part of the station’s revamped programme schedule. It’s a full-circle moment of sorts for the presenter, who has spent nearly three decades in commercial radio and is now bringing that experience to a community station serving St Austell and the surrounding area.

Scott is best known locally for his time on Pirate FM and Nation Radio, and further afield across the South West for his work on Rewind Radio and DevonAir. Over the years he’s built a reputation less for the polish and more for the connection, entertaining anecdotes, community stories and the kind of engaging broadcasting that keeps listeners tuning in on their way to work.

A revamped schedule across the day

Scott’s arrival is one part of a wider shake-up at CHAOS. Cheryl Gordon and Ross Lannon will alternate presenting the station’s Daytime Show from 12pm to 3pm, with Pete G taking over Drivetime from 3pm until 6pm.

Community broadcasting on the rise

CHAOS, an acronym for Community Helping All of Society, is one of a growing number of community stations finding an audience in Cornwall. Nathan Hunkin pointed to that trend directly: “Here in Cornwall, community FM stations are proving to be a popular alternative to national and commercial stations with audiences seeking out ‘hyper local’ news, conversation and voices.

“The quality and variety on offer, I think, is the best it’s ever been and we’re seeing that reflected in the support and engagement from listeners and local business.”

CHAOS Radio sits alongside BBC Radio Cornwall, Source FM, Coast FM, CHBN and Islands FM as a founding member of the Cornwall Community Media Network, a collaboration working to promote and showcase community broadcasting opportunities across the county.
