Jubilee Pool Sea Swim in Penzance called off by rough seas
The entries were in, the T-shirts were printed, and then the sea had the final say. Jubilee Pool has cancelled this Saturday’s Sea Swim after deciding the wind and swell forecast for 12 September falls outside the safety limits it sets for getting hundreds of swimmers into open water.

Why the swim has been called off
The pool says the decision follows unfavourable wind and swell conditions expected this Saturday, and that the event cannot run outside its safety parameters, whatever the disappointment after what has otherwise been a sunny summer for open water swimming in Penzance.
Refunds and donations
Because the event is now a full cancellation rather than a postponement, everyone who booked a ticket will get a full refund, minus the booking fee. Swimmers who would rather not take the refund can instead donate their ticket price to support the community pool, and anyone who wants to do that is asked to let the team know by email.
T-shirts still available
Anyone who ordered and paid for a Sea Swim T-shirt can collect it from the shop at the pool from Friday. Spare T-shirts will also go on sale in the shop from the same day, for anyone who fancies one even without having taken part.

Looking ahead to 2027
Jubilee Pool says it is now reviewing the date for next year’s Sea Swim, with an eye on scheduling it earlier in the season to give it a better shot at kinder conditions. Whether that means a return in high summer rather than September is something the pool says it will confirm in due course.
