Remembrance Sunday Service to Be Held at St Uny Church in Lelant

Arrangements have been confirmed for this year’s Remembrance Sunday service at St Uny Church, Lelant, St Ives, which will take place on Sunday 9th November 2025.

Service Details

The Remembrance Day Service will begin at 9.25 a.m. at the parish church, led by a Vicar who will conduct the service and preach the sermon. Deputy Mayor, Councillor Ken Messenger, will read the lesson.

At 10.00 a.m., wreaths will be laid at the 1914/18 and 1939/45 War Memorials within the church by Ken and the Vicar’s Warden.

Civic Procession and Wreath Laying

The service will conclude at 10.30 a.m. with a blessing, after which the congregation will be asked to remain seated while the Civic Party departs. The assembly will then proceed to the War Memorial, where the main wreath-laying ceremony will take place at 11.00 a.m.

The wreath on behalf of the Council will be laid by Ken, followed by representatives from the Royal British Legion and others.

Attendance

All councillors have been invited to attend, including members representing the Lelant and Carbis Bay Ward. Councillors and their guests are asked to meet Ken at the entrance to the church at 9.10 a.m. before the service begins.
