St Joseph’s riders from Launceston win on their very first outing

Most new teams spend a season or two finding their feet. The equestrian team at St Joseph’s didn’t wait that long.

The newly formed team from the Launceston school headed to Chard last term for the Blundell’s School Arena Eventing Competition. It was the first event the riders had ever entered together as a team.

St Joseph’s School says the students “absolutely smashed” it.

Two team placings at the first attempt

The team came away with 1st team place in the 60cm class.

And in the 80cm class, the riders finished with 2nd team place.

The school said it “could not be prouder” of everyone who took part.

The six riders

William, Ruby, Kezia, Isla, Eleanor and Lily made up the team for the competition.

The school described all six as fantastic ambassadors for St Joseph’s, and said the result was quite a way to kick off their eventing journey.

Families behind the team

The school also thanked the families who supported the riders and helped make the day possible.

“We couldn’t do it without you!” the school said.

And it is already looking ahead. “Here’s to many more successful competitions together!”
