Free motorbike health checks at Cornwall dealers this November
That tyre you keep meaning to look at. The rattle you’ve been ignoring since the summer. For one week this month, you can get someone who knows bikes to give your motorcycle, moped or scooter a proper once-over, and it won’t cost you a penny.
The Road Safety Team at Devon & Cornwall Police has arranged free health checks with motorcycle dealerships across both counties during Road Safety Week, which runs from Monday 16 November to Friday 20 November.
If you’re unsure about your tyres or anything else on your bike, you can pop along or phone one of the dealers taking part. They’ll give advice and guidance and, if something needs sorting, carry out the work. The check itself is free. Any repairs are at your own cost.

A message for parents
The team has made a direct appeal to mums and dads with young riders in the family, urging them to take up the offer and help keep their teenagers safe on Cornwall’s roads.

Bridge Motorcycles, Exeter
Alphin Brook Road, Marsh Barton, Exeter, EX2 8RG. Call 01392 260200.
Service manager Shaun is happy to help, but asks that checks are done on Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18 or Thursday 19 November. Monday and Friday are the workshop’s busiest days, so it’s best to avoid them.
While your bike is in the workshop
The Road Safety Team suggests making the most of the visit. Have a look at the protective kit the dealers stock, get your crash helmet checked to make sure it still fits properly, and maybe start a wish list for Santa. (“Yes I still believe,” the team added.)
There’s also a polite request. If a dealer can’t see you straight away, be patient. They will get to you, but their own business has to come first.

Dealers who want to join in
Other dealerships that want to take part can email [email protected] and the team will publish their details too.
The team signed off by thanking the dealerships that support its courses and schemes, calling them “an absolute credit to the industry and road safety.”
