Tamar Crossings Confirms Christmas and New Year Opening Times and Free Tolls

Tamar Crossings has set out its Christmas and New Year plans, including free tolls on Christmas Day and a full breakdown of ferry timetables and customer service opening hours.

Free Tolls on Christmas Day

Tolls on both the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry will be suspended from 0000 to 2359 on 25th December 2025.

The Tamar Bridge will remain open as usual throughout the festive period. Drivers are asked to approach the toll plaza with care, as Bridge staff may occasionally be crossing behind the toll booths.

The same toll suspension applies to the Torpoint Ferry, which will also run a revised timetable across the holidays.

Torpoint Ferry Christmas and New Year Schedule

Barring adverse weather, the ferry will operate the following services:

Night Service (22:00 to 06:00, seven days a week)
Half hourly sailings.
From Torpoint: on the hour and half past.
From Devonport: quarter past and quarter to.

Wednesday 24th December (Christmas Eve)
Two ferry service from 06:30 to 21:00, then half hourly.

Thursday 25th December (Christmas Day)
One ferry with a half hourly service all day and night.

Friday 26th December (Boxing Day)
Two ferries with a fifteen minute service from 06:30 to 18:30, then one ferry with a half hourly service.

Saturday 27th December
Two ferries from 06:30 to 21:00, then half hourly.

Sunday 28th December
Two ferries from 08:00 to 18:00, then half hourly.

Monday 29th December
Two ferries from 06:30 to 18:30, then half hourly.

Tuesday 30th December
Two ferries from 06:30 to 18:30, then half hourly.

Wednesday 31st December
Two ferries from 06:30 to 18:30, then half hourly.

Thursday 1st January (New Year’s Day)
Two ferries from 09:30 to 18:30, then half hourly.

Friday 2nd January onwards
Normal winter weekday service resumes.

Visitor and Learning Centre

The Visitor and Learning Centre will be open every day across Christmas and New Year except for Christmas Day.

Customer Service Opening Hours

Customer service offices at the Bridge and Ferry will open as follows:

  • Monday 22nd December: 09:00 to 17:00

  • Tuesday 23rd December: 09:00 to 17:00

  • Wednesday 24th December: 09:00 to 13:00

  • Thursday 25th December (Christmas Day): Closed

  • Friday 26th December (Boxing Day): Closed

  • Saturday 27th December: Closed

  • Sunday 28th December: Closed

  • Monday 29th December: 09:00 to 17:00

  • Tuesday 30th December: 09:00 to 17:00

  • Wednesday 31st December (New Year’s Eve): 09:00 to 15:00

  • Thursday 1st January 2026: Closed

  • Friday 2nd January 2026: 09:00 to 17:00 (16:30 for Ferry Office)

Normal office hours resume on 5th January 2026.

Customers needing tag top ups, vehicle amendments or additional tags while offices are closed should use their online accounts. Accounts can be created via the Tamar Crossings website.

Additional tag requests and general queries made during closure periods will be handled on days when staff are available.

Violations can be paid online at any time by clicking on the violation payments section at the top of the Tamar Crossings website and following the instructions.
